Ocean4 Magazine | Behind The Glass

Behind the Glass is a FREE online magazine published by Ocean4. BTG features interviews with aquariums and zoos around the world. The interviews reveal insider information about new exhibits and their behind the scenes installation process. We discover how exhibits come to life and expose the hard work and dedication that goes into creating such amazing exhibits.

Contact OceansMeetArt@Ocean4.org if you would like us to feature your new exhibit. Or if you would like to recommend an exhibit you have seen. It’s a completely free opportunity for you to participate. There are no limits how many times your aquarium or zoo can be featured. So contact us today, we look forward to hearing from you.

In Honor of World Oceans Day

What: Jenkinson’s Aquarium is proud to join hundreds of other educational institutions, conservation organizations, and thousands of individuals in dozens of countries around the world to celebrate our shared ocean. World Oceans Day – held on June 8th of each year – is an opportunity to celebrate our world ocean and our personal connection to the sea.

When: Saturday, June 8, 2013, All Day, Activities from 1:00 – 4:00pm, included in general admission.

Who: Ocean4: Jessica Adanich is the Director and Lead Artist for Ocean4. Ocean4 specializes in bringing the interactive experience of art and education together for visitors at zoos and aquariums. We use art as a vehicle to bring conservation issues to the forefront while challenging people to engage on a deeper level. By combining art and science, an unforgettable experience is created and visitors are walking away contemplative, having truly understood the message.

PEW Environmental Trusts
The aim of Pew’s environmental initiatives is to strengthen policies and practices in ways that produce significant and measurable protection for terrestrial and marine systems worldwide. Pew’s commitment to the environment began in 1974, when we first provided grants to regional conservancies, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and the International Oceanographic Foundation. Since then, we have continued to work to advance scientific understanding of the causes and consequences of environmental problems along with their solutions; provide economic analysis of decisions affecting such issues; design innovative policy solutions to these problems; and mobilize public support for implementing these solutions.

Point Pleasant Beach Rescue Dive Team
Point Pleasant New Jersey First Aid Rescue Dive Team. Trained and qualified Scuba divers who volunteer their time and efforts to protect those along the central Jersey Shore beaches.

Where: Jenkinson’s Aquarium, 300 Ocean Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742

Why: We can help make others more aware of the importance of the world’s ocean in their daily lives by showing them ways to improve their impact on the ocean by, for example, reducing CO2 emissions. In joining with thousands of people all over the world in celebrating World Oceans Day, we can make a real difference for our oceans of life.

  • We all learn in different ways, that’s true whether we’re visiting an aquarium or studying biology. Art is a unique and fun way to explain conservation and help instigate change. Jessica Adanich
